Campus Overview
As a result of the amendment to the Law of Continued Technical Education a new technical college had to be built in Pretoria.
Due to the large number of apprentices in their employ, Iscor requested the Department of National Education to create a technical institution in Pretoria West. Approval was granted and Iscor provided a suitable property. Building began early in 1974 and in January 1975 , while the building contractors were still busy with the final touches, the college , first known as Pretoria West Technical Institute , came into being. 176 full time and 79 part time students enrolled for the first trimester of 1975.
With the reinstatement of tertiary courses there was an explosion in student numbers. Within the first ten years student numbers grew to an average of 1900 per trimester. Currently Pretoria West Campus enrols an average of 2000 Programme 191 students for part time and 1000 Programme 191 students for full time classes , as well as 700 NC(V) students. To cater for the growth the campus has had to extend the buildings to the current 58 classrooms and 7 computer laboratories.
The amendment and implementation of the Law on Technical Colleges (Law 104 of 1981) led to Pretoria West Technical Institute changing its name to Pretoria West Technical College. A year after the college employed a new Campus Head in 1998 the name changed to Pretoria West College of Engineering and this remained its name until the merging of colleges at which stage it became known as the Pretoria West Campus of the Tshwane South College for TVET.

NC(V) Level 2 – 4:
- Electrical
- Information Technology
- Mechanical (Fitting and Turning, and Automotive Repair and Maintenance)
Practical Workshops
In December 1998, the then Pretoria West College of Engineering bought the Iscor Training Centre and changed the name to ITCC (Iscor Training Centre College). It is now known as the Pretoria West Training Centre. Practical training is offered in the following trades:
- Fitting
- Fitting and Turning
- Boilermaking
- Electrician
- Millwright
- Instrumentation
The training centre also trains students for outside companies and provides trade test preparation for private and company students.
