Tshwane South TVET College Celebrates Graduation Ceremony of 2024

On 03 October 2024, Tshwane South TVET College proudly hosted its graduation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the lives of 554 graduates. The event radiated joy and camaraderie, celebrating the dedication and hard work of the students who have successfully completed their academic journeys.

The College Acting Principal, Mr. Mnisi, delivered a heartfelt address, stating, “Today, we gather here to celebrate a momentous occasion in the history of Tshwane South TVET College. It fills my heart with immense joy and pride to witness the academic achievements of our students. This day marks not only the culmination of your hard work but also the beginning of a new chapter in your lives.” He further encouraged the graduates, emphasising the importance of lifelong learning and resilience. He quoted Archbishop Desmond Tutu, reminding the audience that “inclusive, good-quality education is a foundation for dynamic and equitable societies.” Mr. Mnisi urged the graduates to embrace their potential and create a lasting impact on the world around them.
Among the highlights of the graduation ceremony was the recognition of top achievers from the 2023 and 2024 academic years. In the 2023 academic year, Mr. Macheli Botai Regionald excelled in Civil Engineering with a remarkable score of 77%, while Ms. Papu Nneheng Julia achieved a commendable 74% in Management. Mr. Mamahlo Kopano and Ms. Maswaneng Letu Sophie both demonstrated their prowess in Electrical Engineering, earning scores of 73%.
For the 2024 academic year, the college celebrated outstanding performances, with Mr. Dibha Simon and Mr. Hlophe Thulsne Christopher both achieving an impressive 96% in their respective programs of Electrical Light Current and Electrical Engineering Heavy Current. Mr. Muthige Rofhiwa Terence showcased excellence in Civil Engineering, attaining a score of 85.75%, while Ms. Komane Mmathapelo Mahlodi achieved a notable 74% in Management Assistant.
Mr. Mokoena, the College Council Chairperson, addressed the audience, reinforcing the college's commitment to aligning its curriculum with market demands. He stated, “The mandate of the college council is to constantly engage with the department of higher education wherever relevant to ensure that the curriculum and courses we offer are in line with the market demand. South Africa is not limited to where you are born; if you get a job opportunity in the Eastern Cape or North West, take it. We are one country; do not limit yourself.” Mr Mokoena he further said “In a testament to its commitment to student success, the college is actively working on developing student centres designed not only for current learners but also to support Tshwane South TVET College alumni in their job-hunting endeavours. This initiative aims to cultivate a spirit of growth and development, providing vital resources and networking opportunities that empower graduates as they navigate the professional landscape”.
The graduation ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of education and the endless possibilities that lie ahead for each graduate. As they step into this new chapter, the graduates carry with them not only the knowledge they have gained but also the support of a community committed to their success.
